Best Value for Money Smartphones

Thursday, 5 April 2018 12:31:12 Asia/Singapore

Well buying a smartphone today can be a bit of challenge, I am not just referring to the cost or purchase avenues here, but the fundamental and basic question, which phone to buy? Especially since there is abundance of choice. And it’s precisely the factor which confuses an average buyer. The Current trend seems to be larger displays in relatively smaller phone with a unique screen aspect ratio of 18:9 or 2:1, Dual cameras & AI. Most manufacturers claim to be versatile, and few of them have managed to create a niche market segment for themselves.  Features, once considered as novelty are now essential aspects of a smartphone irrespective of the price bracket.

And with above factors in mind I would recommend the best of Smartphones you can get today with flagship level performance specs and features, albeit for half the price of Flagship phones!!

My Top Recommendations & why?

Well, as you can see from the specification and features, from the table above that all these phones are but equally powerful and feature packed.  They come preloaded or have been updated to latest software. Also, with technological advancements the gap between Upper Midrange and Flagship smartphones have never been narrower. So, given this scenario, one has to consider whether investing ton of money on a current high-end Flagships is prudent enough. The camera quality and performance are at par with most of the Flagship Phones.  High End features like Dual camera’s, Bezel Less Displays with the latest 18:9 aspect ratio, Large batteries, ample amount of RAM and Storage space, IP68 Certification, fast charging, they have it all.

Brief overview of each recommended phone with key factors to be consider:

OnePlus 5T: The flagship killer! Top of the line specs, fantastic performance, Dual cameras, screen aspect ratio of 18:9, large battery with the Fastest Charging on a smartphone it has it all ‘The whole nine yards’. The performance is buttery smooth, gaming and media consumption is an absolute pleasure on the 6.01 inch FHD AMOLED screen, especially since the battery life on this phone is one of the best in its class.  Also, the UI is clean with minimum of gimmicks, no bloatware and close to Stock Android, so much so that it’s the pixel on a budget! Absence of microSD card support and no IP rating are the only compromises.

Nokia 8: The legend has made a comeback and in style. The sleek and petite flagship features a Dual camera setup with the iconic Zeiss Optics with some neat features like Bothie wherein you can shoot from both front and rear camera simultaneously. Also, the UI is pure stock android with a promise of early a timely software and security updates and delivers on it with prompt updates each month including being the first (after Pixel Series) to update to Android Oreo 8.0. Though if you are ok with and rather a simple design language with large Bezels this is the phone for you.

Samsung Galaxy Note FE: Again an Iconic device, perhaps one the best designed curved screen phone from Samsung. Its comes fully loaded and featured packed with Top of the line specs sheet, wireless charging and IP68 rating and to top it all the mighty S-pen which sets this device miles apart when it comes to features. And the camera performance is outstanding and is at par if not better in comparison with most flagships. With front mounted fingerprint scanner with the tactile menu button and screen with 16:9 aspect ratio is what you desired on than the Note FE is the phone to take Note!

Galaxy A8+: This A series brings with it all the flagship all glass design with IP68 certification, minus the curved screen and features the first ever Dual front facing camera for the Selfie Addicts, and indeed it takes some class leading selfies. Though it features an upper midrange chipset, with 6GB of RAM and software optimizations the performance is almost at par with S series flagships, only with high intensity graphic games you might experience dropped frame or two. You can binge watch TV shows/movies or browse through internet and social media sites all day long on the 6-inch Super AMOLED FHD display without having to worry about running low on charge as it packs the largest battery in its category and has a fantastic battery life.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2: Xiaomi makes some remarkable products. Their success in recent times if proof enough. They are now considered amongst the Top 5 phone Manufacturers globally. The Mi Mix 2 is Xiaomi’s take on premium smartphones with Bezel less display with 18:9 screen aspect ratio. Everything about this phone feel premium from the retail packaging box, the gorgeous all glass design and top of the line specs sheet. It also features a great camera with Sony IMX386 sensor with built in 4-axis OIS system.  It runs on Latest version of MIUI 9 which though feature rich could be an acquired taste. Also, absent is the 3.5mm audio jack (though a USB Type-C Audio Adapter is provided in the retail box) and no IP rating. A large 3400mAh battery powers the 5.99-inch IPS LCD display and the battery life is good.

To summarize it up to you which of these phones you would get. However, I assure you choose any one from list mentioned above you won’t go wrong. You browse through Hitec Mobile website for detailed specs, overview and exciting offers for the above-mentioned phones. Happy Shopping!!
