Samsung Mobile Singapore has expanded its entry-level Galaxy lineup by introducing the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A16 LTE to the local market. These new additions succeed the Galaxy A15 lineup, bringing a range of enhancements while maintaining user-friendly design elements.
Following its launch in Europe, the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is now available in Singapore. It boasts a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, delivering an immersive visual experience. This is a step up from the Galaxy A15's 6.5-inch display. The A16 is also more streamlined, measuring just 7.9mm in thickness compared to the A15's 8.4mm, yet it retains an ergonomic key island design for a comfortable grip.
Under the hood, the Galaxy A16 5G runs on the Exynos 1330 chipset, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Its 5,000mAh battery, compatible with 25W charging via USB-C, ensures users can enjoy up to 18 hours of video playback. Although details about the processor for the LTE variant weren't revealed, both models are equipped with a powerful octa-core configuration.
The camera setup includes a triple-lens system at the back: a 50MP primary camera, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. The front camera is a 13MP unit nestled in a subtle water-drop notch. These specs are further enhanced by Samsung Knox, an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for enhanced security.
Samsung Singapore is offering an impressive six-year commitment to software and security updates, keeping the devices updated until September 2030. This commitment includes updates for One UI, Android OS, and Samsung Security Maintenance Releases.
For those who requires additional storage, the Galaxy A16 series allows for microSD expansion up to 1.5TB and retains the 3.5mm headphone jack for users preferring traditional audio accessories.
The phones come in Blue Black, Gold, and Light Green, and are available at various outlets including M1, Singtel, Starhub, the Samsung Online Store, and authorized retailers. The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is priced starting at S$298, making it a competitively priced option in the market.
