If your device is faulty, you can take it to Apple for a free diagnosis. However, the service center is usually completely overcrowded, making it almost impossible to get a same-day appointment.
If you do not have a lot of time, it's in your best interest to book your appointment in advance, as you can not be guaranteed a spot in line.
