During the recent keynote hosted by Google Inc, the search giant introduces its latest product including two new mobile devices named Pixel and Pixel XL. Sundar Pichai, it's CEO emphasis that both the model is "designed and made by Google" without saying any remark about the partnership with HTC.
After the discontinue of Nexus range and the introduction of Pixel, Google decided to follow the footstep of Apple by appointing a hardware manufacturing partner AKA Foxconn and claim full credit and branding to Pixel at the expense of HTC. By introducing its own hardware maker means it does not depend on its hardware vendor as it oversees the design and manufacturing process.
In terms of design, the two handsets look similar with HTC`s very own A9 and its recently launch HTC 10 in Singapore. By mentioning "HTC" on the phone or the box would have greatly benefited the Taiwanese smartphone maker in terms of credibility and reputation as a premium device maker. Take Huawei and LG as an example and you will see the impact Google ecosystem had made on this two partners increasing sales on their individual models eg. LG G4, G5, P9 and P9 Plus.
The HTC U Ultra price in Singapore is in the top tier category at S$898 simply because it`s the latest flagship from HTC. But if you like the idea of being one of the first countries to own HTC latest Nougat 7.0 smartphone that offers close to stock Android performance, then this is the one to get.
